Day Seventy Six: New Year

Tomorrow is the new year and my room is still a mess, but getting better.

I have a box ready to go, a place to donate my beanie babies and a place to donate my cabbage patch dolls. I think I can finally fit all my books on the book shelf. Once I get rid of so many dolls, I should have a much cleaner, simpler life. It honestly hurts to be getting rid of them, but at the same time, it feels good. I don't need to keep everything from my past.

I need to let go. Let go of so much.

The beanie bags are going to two charities: Kids in Crisis, which gives the beanie babies to preemies and their families (and will also take the tiny beanie babies, not just the full size ones) and Project Gratitude, which gives care packages to soldiers. I was originally going to sell these beanie babies, but honestly, if I can help some one instead, I will happily do that.

My dolls and stuffed animals will be going to multiple locations as well, though I am not sure how many yet. I am hoping to find a shelter (or shelters) to give them to if I can, or at least part of them. I also want to give some to police stations, because cops give them to kids that are found at crime scenes and the like. Project Gratitude also takes stuffed animals as well. I think that this will be good for me and good for them.

Anything else I can find to donate, I will. I'll also give to salvation army too, but mainly clothes and the like there, just like I've been doing almost monthly.

Hopefully knowing where things are going, will help with the cleaning process and this new year, will bring a new cleaner, life.

Day Sixty: Am I ever not busy? I mean, really? Ever?

I have a box full and ready to go, mainly books and Cabbage Patch Dolls. Which kills me. Both are some of my favorite things, but I now have enough shelf space (hopefully) for all of books. I also go to get rid of a lot of LARP (Live Action Role Playing) things, because the people I was doing them for decided that I was no longer worth their time.

My camera sold on Ebay, making my Ebay box lighter and I'll be putting my dress up on their, as well as those beanie babies this week hopefully.

With my last part of the semester, I didn't have a ton of time to clean, but I'll find time to do more cleaning over holiday break.

Day Forty-One

I got one box out. With it went clothes, cassette tapes, bags, and a couple books.

It's a start.

Oh! And my camera is on ebay finally!

Day Thirty-Seven: Slowly, but Surely

Slowly I'm getting things done, but surely it's something. :P

I have a box full for ebay, one full for toys, and one full of things to give away. I can be a good girl and clean more this week. Tomorrow night and probably Friday night as well. December gets pretty crazy. Hopefully I can be cleaned by January

Day Thirty-One: I Swear I'm still cleaning

So it's been busy, but I have been still cleaning! I have my drafting desk almost completely cleared, as well as my books almost all on shelves.

Thanks all for now. See you soon!

Day Twenty: Ebay Box

So I've filled up the Ebay box with what I know is going on the site and bagged some trash. It isn't much, but that's something for today.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to pick up some containers for my art supplies and maybe some other supplies. I'm excited to get much more work done tomorrow.

Day Nineteen: Another Day, Another... Something

Day Nineteen and I feel like I haven't made any progress this week.

And really I haven't. I think I may have even made it worse. Granted I did do some laundry, but I didn't put it away. I did move my three boxes (ebay, toys, and getting rid of) upstairs, but I just kind of tossed them on top of things.

Honestly, tomorrow and Sunday are my big cleaning days this week. I want that ebay box filled and ready for me to start getting rid of everything in it. I want that toy box as filled as it can be and that getting rid of box overflowing.

Why is it so important to me to simplify?

It helps clear and calm the mind, something I've been trying to do for years now. Besides that, there is no reason for things I do not need or do not use. On top of that, I want to be a new woman. I'm most of the way there, to becoming the woman I am, that I truly want to be, but I need to be able to really do what I want. Not to be trapped by my surroundings.

Day Fifteen: Halloween

This weekend was as busy as I thought and today is just as busy, even though I'm just at Eastern campus studying, blogging, and getting ready for NaNoWriMo, which starts tomorrow. I suppose I could have gotten something done this weekend cleaning wise, but I had no physical energy after working for twelve hours two days in a row and barely getting any sleep.

And tonight is Halloween, which means pumpkin carving, passing out candy, and a Halloween party. Actually two or three Halloween parties if I had my gumption up, but I don't. I've been exhausted, barely sleeping and having such long days. I guess that this weekend will be my big cleaning scourge. I need to make up for this busy period and make a big dent.

I can do this. No problem. I will purge my life of clutter, I will live simpler, and I will have room to live.

Day Twelve: Busy Little Beaver

This being not only midterm week and re-writing a paper I should not have had to re-write, but since it's my last week at my seasonal job, I have had some issues getting stuff done around my room. Next week should yield better results.

I am excited about having time to take care of myself finally.

Not just work and school, not just my boyfriend and my friends, but take care of myself. That is wonderful. That makes me smile and contented.

Day Ten: Sort of Having Progress

I'm getting more stuff out, but definitely going slowly. I'm making some stuff decisions on some emotional items I've kept. I don't need to be tired down to the past.

I need to make room for present and the future.

P.S. I've started every sentence with "I" and I'm using contractions. I should be ashamed of myself. :P

Day Eight: Progress Report

I can see the progress at least. I have clothes put in my dresser (not all, but it's a start), I have my skirts hung up (and any that don't fit there or in my costume box get donated), my books are almost all up, and a good chunk of pop cans and water bottles are out of my room. It's a start and I can see the progress.

Today I want to do a bit more laundry and start filling some of my boxes (Maybe the Ebay one, that'll be an easy start). Also, sometime in the next few days I want to get all of my books on shelves or in a box so I no longer have to worry about walking around them.

Stuff is getting done.

Day Seven: Tired

I may not get much done today.

I'm just so tired.

Update: I hung up a couple of skirts and I'm taking out some cans right now. Go me? At least it's something

Day Six: Busy Vs. Lazy

Well, Day Five was uneventful. I worked from 9:40 am to 8 pm, so when I got home I as exhausted and today... While I did not work, I was barely home and am now sitting pretty doing homework (and blogging, shhh!) at my boyfriend's place.

I did however start cleaning up my car from the season of work trash that has built up. Does that count?

Day Four: Surprise Day Off

Today I got called off of work due to rain... This means less pay, but it also means that I got more time to work on my room. I should be able to get a couple of loads of laundry done before dinner tonight (and despite the fact that I slept in a few hours...).

At least something is getting done today.

Day Three: School Day

Today will be tricky actually getting things done. I had a paper due (which I finished at about 6 pm, 630ish), classes from 11:45 am to 9 pm, and am starting to feel worse and worse (assuredly from the lack of proper food). I did however get some water bottles, pop cans, and some dishes out of my room this morning. I think even little progress like that is something since it all has to get done some time.

Tomorrow I'm just as busy (work and then dinner with a friend), but I'll hopefully either manage to get some thing more done tonight or I'll get more bottles, cans, and dishes out tomorrow.

Just keep moving, right?

Day Two: 10:57 AM

Admittedly I don't have much time today with a five page paper due tomorrow that I haven't even started, but I should be able to get my fabric bags upstairs in the craft room. Though I think I'll have to double bag them since the bags I bought were cheap (originally they were just bought to keep my rear dry at Ren Faire).

I might do some loads of laundry today or even just get a bag of trash out of the room. Maybe I'll finish putting my art books on the shelf.

Just as long as I get something done.

Update: I got the bags upstairs with out double bagging them and I at least filled the laundry bag.

Day One: Gathering Some Starting Gear

So I'm starting fairly simple. Here's what I already have:

3 Boxes
- 1 for old toys
- 1 for Ebay items
- 1 for items for donations

Roll of Trash Bags
- Dolls/Stuffed Animals
- Fabrics
- Trash
- Recycling
- Clothes to donate

Misc
- Laundry Bag (I prefer the free standing ones, but I found a three load mesh bag for $3.50 at Big Lots, so that works for me.)
- Beauty Box (a plastic Ikea box from their "As Is" section. The lid doesn't fit well, but it was cheap [$1 for lid and box]. I've also decided that any make-up/beauty items that cannot fit in there cannot be kept.)

What I still need:
- Tool Box/Fishing Box (For art supplies, maybe one for my theatre supplies, but art supplies first and for most)
- ???

Today I started putting things in the laundry bag and did two loads. Also, I bagged the fabric and moved my excess yarn into the family craft room. I labeled the three boxes. It's a slow start, but a start is a start.

I'll type up the plan I wrote the other day probably tomorrow.

Wish me luck.

Clutter, Clutter Everywhere: Day One

I have lived my life in clutter and chaos too long.

It effects my productivity, it effects my mood, it effects my relationships and social interactions, it effects who I am to the core.

And I cannot do it any more. I have fallen so far behind in this mess. It's trapped me in the rising rubble of broken toys, dirty clothes, useless books, and meaningless junk. Breaking free is the only thing I can do not not to drown in it.

This blog is going to track my progress and eventually I hope will turn to becoming an organization and design blog.

Belong are pictures of how my room currently looks.*

*Pictures are currently not loading for some reason or another, so I'll try again later.
